Chantal Stevens was selected to serve as the ACLU of North Carolina's Executive Director effective September 1, 2020, after serving as the organization's Interim Executive Director since February 2020.
Prior to joining the ACLU of North Carolina, Chantal worked in education for 20 years. Chantal started her career with the Research Foundation for CUNY. After leaving the Research Foundation she worked for The City College of New York, A Better Chance, The GO Project, and later, at the Oliver Scholars. Chantal currently runs her own consulting firm and works with nonprofit organizations on strategy, systems, and process creation for finance, fundraising, board development, and programs.
Chantal holds a B.A. in Political Science and an M.S.Ed in Higher Education Administration from Bernard M. Baruch College. An active member of her community, Chantal served as a Board Member of St. Mark the Evangelist School for 5 years. For 13 years she served as a volunteer fundraiser and Parent Chair for the Annual Fund of the Spence School. For 12 years, Chantal served as an Advisory Board Member of the National Partnership for Educational Access. Since 2017, she’s been a Member of the Vestry of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church and an Advisory Board Member of St. Bartholomew’s Community Preschool. In July 2019, she joined the Board of Great Oaks Charter School – New York.
