Sarah Gillooly is Director of Political Strategy and Advocacy at the American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina, where she oversees the organization's policy, legislative, and organizing agenda.
Prior to joining the ACLU-NC, Sarah served as a Strategic Manager for Health Finance at Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) in Washington, D.C., where she worked with health care providers across country to help them leverage the policy opportunities and address the challenges of a changing health care economy.
Earlier in her career, Sarah G served as the Kansas Manager of Government Affairs for Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri (PPKM) in Topeka, KS, where she managed lobbying and public policy for the state's largest provider of reproductive and sexual health care. Sarah started with PPKM as an Education and Outreach Coordinator in 2006, and left temporarily to found the Public Policy Project at PROMO, Missouri’s statewide LGBT advocacy organization, before returning to PPKM in 2009.
Sarah holds an M.A. in Women’s Studies from Loyola University Chicago and a B.A. in Women’s Studies from Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, GA. Sarah currently volunteers as an abortion doula for patients at a Virginia independent abortion provider and previously trained and practiced as a labor/postpartum doula.
