287(g), the partnership between Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office has been in place for over a decade, leading to racial profiling, the terrorizing of communities, and the deportation of more than 15,000 people.

Sheriff-elect Garry McFadden has vowed to end the program.
