The ACLU of North Carolina is co-sponsoring Defend the 14th, a commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the ratification of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. This event will inform participants of the historical implications of the 14th Amendment and how it informs our justice system and society today. The program will also highlight equal protection, due process, and citizenship challenges we currently face.
The event is being organized by the North Carolina Commission on Racial and Ethnic Disparities in the Criminal Justice System (NC CRED). Co-sponsors include Pullen Memorial Baptist Church, NC Association of Black Lawyers, NC NAACP, and the ACLU of North Carolina.
