Pack the Courtroom!

Support the fight for fair juries.

In North Carolina, prosecutors can use a jury selection procedure known as “death disqualification” to ensure that only jurors who believe in the death penalty serve on capital juries. This means that capital juries are more white, more male and more likely to convict and impose death.

The ACLU is challenging the use of death disqualification in capital jury selection. On August 16, 2022, the ACLU filed a motion to bar this practice on behalf of our client Brandon Hill, who faces the death penalty for capital charges in Wake County, North Carolina.

This hearing in Mr. Hill's case will include closing arguments by the ACLU's legal team who are arguing against the use of death disqualification. Please join us in packing the courtroom to show support for a fairer criminal justice system.
