SB 637 is an anti-immigrant bill that would require jails and sheriffs to comply with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers for 48 hours even if someone is eligible for release on bail. Additionally, it would charge sheriffs or jail administrators with a misdemeanor if they fail to run someone identified as undocumented through the ICE query or if they refuse to hold someone on an ICE detainer.
