HB 192 blocks North Carolinians with Medicaid from going to Planned Parenthood for preventive care, including birth control, cancer screenings, and treatment for STIs. Because the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” passed by Congress and signed by President Trump has already removed Planned Parenthood from the Medicaid program nationwide, this bill has no additional immediate impact. However, should a court block the federal law from being in effect, or should the federal law be allowed to expire in July 2026, the state law would remain in place, continuing to block North Carolinians with Medicaid from care at Planned Parenthood.
