HB 1061: Plyler Educational Protections Act

The Plyler Educational Protections Act would establish clear, statewide standards and protocols to protect equal access to public education and student privacy for all children in North Carolina, such as:

• Making it clear that all children in North Carolina, regardless of immigration status, have the right to attend public school and fully participate in all activities
• Prohibiting the sharing of a child’s immigration status without a judicial warrant or parental consent
• Setting clear rules for how schools respond to requests from immigration agents
