HB 1199: Seatbelt Act

H1199 would add a new requirement that when the DMV restores the license of someone whose license has previously been revoked for certain offenses, that person has to agree to only operate a vehicle with a functioning Intelligent Speed Assistance system, a device that tracks the user’s vehicle and uses GPS data to enforce the speed limit. These systems are costly and pose data privacy concerns, and this bill would add an unnecessary barrier to those trying to restore their driver’s license.
