The ACLU of North Carolina works to expand the right to privacy, increase the control individuals have over their personal information, and ensure civil liberties are enhanced rather than compromised by technological innovation. Throughtout our history, the ACLU-NC has worked to protect North Carolinians against warrantless police searches, surveillance, and seizures.

As new technologies make it increasingly easy for law enforcement agencies and others to peer into our private lives, the ACLU-NC works to ensure a future in which the Fourth Amendment ban on unreasonable searches extends to digital property and your data is your own.

North Carolinians should not have to choose between using new technologies and protecting their civil liberties.
