Lawsuit seeks a temporary restraining order barring Charlotte and CMPD from violating protesters’ rights.

Immigrant rights’ groups, including the ACLU of North Carolina, Adelante, CIMA, Comunidad Colectiva, El Pueblo, LatinxEd, Out Turn, Poder NC Action, Student Action with Farmworkers, Undocumented Filmmakers Collective applaud the Supreme Court’s decision today on DACA.

The ACLU of North Carolina today issued the following statement today regarding the excessive force used against demonstrators across North Carolina on Tuesday.  Tuesday’s demonstrations were met with a violent, militarized response from state and local law enforcement.

In response to a serious COVID-19 outbreak at the federal prison complex in Butner, NC, the American Civil Liberties Union, the ACLU of North Carolina, Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, and Winston & Strawn filed a lawsuit.
